Clark Scores Twice In Women's Ice Hockey Finale As Falcons Tie Lebanon Valley; Fall In Shootout

HERSHEY, Pa. -  Kayla Clark scored twice, including a game-tying goal in the third period as the Albertus Magnus College women's ice hockey team closed out its inaugural season with a 2-2 tie with Lebanon Valley on Saturday evening in a road game. Lebanon Valley won the shootout, 2-1.

Clark's first goal in the first period, and added her second at the 7:36 mark in the third, just 1:23 after Lebanon Valley took the lead.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Clark put the Falcons on the board first at the 11:38 mark of the first period as she scored a shorthanded goal after receiving a pass from Kendall Conley (Trumbull, Conn.) and firing a wrist shot past Lebanon Valley goaltender Mia Frisoni to put Albertus up, 1-0.
  • Christmas Johnson (Winnipeg, Manitoba) stopped 19 shots in each of the first two periods for the Falcons as Albertus took a 1-0 lead into the third.
  • Lebanon Valley broke through early in the third at the 1:27 mark as Cheyenne Wilk made it a 1-1 game. The Dutchmen took its first and only lead at the 6:13 mark in the third as Anna Dale redirected a shot from Erin Yorke.
  • It took 83 seconds for the Falcons to respond on the power play as Molly Martin (Buffalo, N.Y.) passed to Gabriella Dellacroce (Woodbridge, Conn.), who fed Clark for a one-timer from the faceoff circle and tied the game, 2-2.
  • Johnson stopped both shots she faced in overtime.
  • In the shootout, Martin scored the lone goal for the Falcons. Victoria Scurto and Anna Dale scored for LVC.

NOTEWORTHY

  • The shorthanded goal was the first in program history for the Falcons.
  • Albertus finished the season 16/95 (16.8 percent) on the power play.
  • It was the first two-goal game for Clark.
  • Martin finished the season with a team-high nine goals and 16 assists for 25 points. Clark was second in all three categories with eight goals and 15 assists for 23 points.
