HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Johnson tallied five saves in the net and Lila Whitney (Canton, Conn.) recorded a blocked shot through the opening six minutes before Ashtyn Bringardner put Salve Regina on the board at 6:22 in the first period after she deflected in a shot from Grace Dumond.
  • Bringardner's had a shot hit off the post with 47 seconds remaining in the first period; however, she did connect for her second goal of the night - a shorthanded one - at 7:34 in the second period to put the Seahawks up, 2-0.
  • Albertus came out of the second intermission aggressively with seven shots on goal before Dellacroce narrowed the deficit to one at 12:03 in the third as she scored with an extra man on the ice after a delayed penalty. Aliyah Sawyer (Colorado Springs, Colo.) intercepted a pass between two Salve Regina skaters before bringing it into the attacking zone. Albertus managed to keep possession of the puck as Molly Martin (Buffalo, Conn.) received a pass from Shoshana Lofstock (Fair Lawn, N.J.). Martin then passed to Dellacroce, who fired a shot just inside the blue line to make it a 2-1 game.
  • Two and a half minutes later, Salve Regina netted the game's final goal as Reese Periera scored on a power play as she found a loose puck in front of the net.
