Women's Ice Hockey Ties Game Early, But Lose NEHC Game To Salve Regina

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Albertus Magnus College women's ice hockey team lost a 4-2 New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) game to Salve Regina on Saturday evening at Ralph Walker Ice Rink.

Ariana Martin (Hamden, Conn.) and Molly Martin (Buffalo, N.Y.) each scored for the Falcons on the day.

Christmas Johnson (Winnipeg, Manitoba) had 38 saves on the evening. She also earned her 1,000th career save.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Emily Wroblewski put Salve on the board, beating two defenders just 1:12 into the game to make it a 1-0 game.
  • Just over two minutes later Martin tied the game on a shorthanded goal, as she scored on a breakaway after Salve turned the puck over.
  • Samantha McKenzie then scored back-to-back goals for the Seahawks to give them a 3-1 lead. The second of the two goals came on a 5-on-3 with 1.5 seconds left.
  • Johnson had 19 saves in the second period with one shot getting through on a goal from Jennifer Drevitch fired a shot in as their was traffic in front of the net.
  • In the third period, Martin scored her second goal of the season taking a slap shot that split two defenders to make it a 4-2 game.
