- Southern Maine drew a penalty for a power play, but the visitors stifled the home team's advantage with a blocked shot by Isabella Fedele (Buffalo, N.Y.) and a save secured by Johnson.
- Clark stormed the scoring zone for a potential powerplay goal, but Jess Maclean denied the attempt with a block.
- Following the powerplay chance for the Falcons, Johnson sent away six shots by the Huskies across a minute of action to keep the score deadlocked at zero.
- With another attempt to score off the short-handed visitors, Southern Maine couldn't capitalize on the powerplay thanks to a pair of blocks by Gootjes and two saves by Johnson.
- Southern Maine netted their first goal of the contest at 18:33 off the tip-in by Ellie Eiger and put the hosts up, 1-0, in the opening period.
