Albertus Hosts US Lacrosse Youth Coaches' Clinic

On Sunday, March 9, Albertus Magnus College played host to the Connecticut Chapter of US Lacrosse 2014 Youth Coaches' Clinic inside its Cosgrove Marcus Messer Athletic Center in New Haven.

Around 100 coaches participated in the clinic at Albertus Magnus as participants came from all throughout the state of Connecticut.

Both boys' and girls' coaches participated in six clinic sessions covering beginner play through advanced lacrosse.  Sessions were presented by Connecticut youth, high school and college coaches.  The clinic offered good preparation for coaches in relation to training requirements recommended by youth leagues.

The sessions went over items such as rules interpretation, mechanics and fundamentals, effective practice planning, as well as strategies for success.

Albertus Magnus head women's lacrosse coach Joe Caruso held a session on goalkeeper drills and skills, while one of his assistant coaches, Missy Carney, put on a clinic discussing defensive positioning and strategies.  Albertus Magnus head men's lacrosse coach Darryl Delia also participated by putting on a session discussing a skills development program.

The clinic was organized by the President of the Connecticut Chapter of US Lacrosse, Rich Heritage, and his fellow board members.
