New Haven, Conn. – The Albertus Magnus College women's lacrosse team lost to visiting Johnson & Wales, 21-3, in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play on Tuesday evening at Celentano Field.

With the loss, the Falcons move to 0-6 on the spring and 0-3 in league action, while the Wildcats improved to 5-5 overall and 2-1 in conference tilts with the victory.

In cold and windy conditions, the Wildcats came charging out of the gates. Over the first four minutes of action, JWU ran off six unanswered goals capped by a strike from sophomore attack Raquel Pederzani. Two minutes after Pederzani's second goal of the game, AMC senior midfielder Miranda Jassil (North Branford, Conn.) put the hosts on the board and cut the deficit to five with her team-leading seventh tally of the season.

During the final 20 minutes of the opening frame, Johnson & Wales outscored the Falcons, 9-1, to take a 15-2 lead in the break. In her first game of the year, sophomore attack Jenny Luna (Brentwood, N.Y.) scored the second marker of the contest for Albertus Magnus.

In the second half, the guests outscored Albertus Magnus, 6-1, to pull away and earn the league triumph. Freshman Aida Sarr (Bronx, N.Y.) netted the goal of the game for AMC in the second half. The strike came with 10:37 left in the game and it was Sarr's seventh of the season.

In net, freshman Lexie Fenn (Oakville, Conn.) turned aside 16 shots in a losing effort for the Falcons. On the opposite end, Cristal Benton made two saves to earn the win.

Albertus Magnus returns to action on Sunday, April 10, with a road conference contest versus Rivier that's slated to get underway at 1:00 pm.
