Women's Lacrosse Topped in Road GNAC Tilt vs. Norwich

NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The Albertus Magnus College women's lacrosse team fell at the hands of the Cadets of Norwich University by an 18-5 final score Saturday afternoon in Northfield, Vt.

Katherine Raposo (Warwick, R.I.) led the Falcons' offense with three goals and eight shots on goal, while Keegan Riccio (West Haven, Conn.) had one goal and one assist, and Alexandra Barrett (Northford, Conn.) had one goal. Freshman goalie Chloe Oliver (Milford, Conn.) made 13 saves in a complete-game effort.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Norwich opened today's game with two goals in the first 2:15 to take a quick 2-0 advantage. The Falcons answered by scoring two of the following three goals to cut the deficit to one, 3-2. Raposo netted the first AMC goal a player down at the 10:21 mark, while Barrett scored next off a pass from Riccio. Norwich retaliated with three goals in the final 3:58 of the first quarter to take a 6-2 lead into the second.

Raposo opened the scoring in the second quarter with an unassisted strike to make it a 6-3 game 1:14 into the frame.

Unfortunately for Albertus, the Cadets scored 10 unanswered goals to build its lead to 13 goals, 16-3, with 12:39 remaining in the game.

The Falcons netted two of the game's last four goals to bring the final score to 18-5. Riccio scored the first goal of the fourth for Albertus, while Raposo netted the team's final tally off an assist from Amanda McGeehan (Milford, Conn.).
