Sharks Top Women's Lacrosse in Road GNAC Action

BRIGHTON, Mass. – The Albertus Magnus College women's lacrosse team dropped a road Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) bout to the Sharks of Simmons University by a 19-3 final score on Saturday afternoon.

Keegan Riccio (West Haven, Conn.) led the way for the Falcons with two points on one goal and one assist. Alexandra Barrett (Northford, Conn.) and Emmalee Ianniello (Hamden, Conn.) also scored goals for AMC, with Ianniello's being the first of her young career. Chloe Oliver (Milford, Conn.) continued her impressive freshman season with 22 saves today.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Simmons began today's contest with the first four goals over the opening 8:24. Albertus answered at the 5:08 mark when Barrett made it a 4-1 game with her 18th goal of the spring. Barrett slashed straight to the crease, where she fired a Riccio pass into the back of the net for a goal.

The Falcons added another tally 51 seconds later to cut their deficit to two, 4-2. Riccio netted Albertus' second goal by bouncing a shot into the turf to send the ball over the opposing keeper and into the back of the net.

Following another Simmons goal, AMC again cut the margin to two, 5-3, 51 seconds into the second quarter. Ianniello collected her first career goal by picking up a loose ball in the zone and sending it into the bottom-right corner of the cage.

Unfortunately for the Falcons, the Sharks ended the game by scoring the final 14 goals to seal a 19-3 GNAC victory.
