
NEW HAVEN, Conn. — The Albertus Magnus College women's lacrosse team fell, 18-2, to Rivier University in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play at Celentano Field on Wednesday.
Delaney Schlechtweg (Goshen, N.Y.) and Briony Retasket (Beaverton, Ore.) both scored for the Falcons, while Julianna Montano (Wallingford, Conn.) tallied a pair of assists.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Rivier scored four goals in the first five minutes. Sarah Lachance netted an early hat trick less than five minutes in.
- The visitors tacked on three more goals as Lachance tallied her fourth goal and Sofia Cebrero struck twice for a 7-0 lead after the opening quarter.
- The Raiders padded the lead with four more goals until Schlechtweg stopped the scoring stretch and put Albertus on the board with 2:01 remaining before halftime. Schlechtweg capitalized on the shorthanded Raiders' off a slick feed from a groundball scooped up by J. Montano, shooting the ball past Rivier goalkeeper, Rachel Hinkley.
- Rivier connected for seven-straight goals across the final two periods before Retasket stopped the run with a player-up goal with 2:58 left. After a free position shot by Moira O'Brien (Wilbraham, Mass.) went wide, Albertus maintained possession as J. Montano brought the ball back into play for an overhead pass to Retasket in front of the crease for the quick goal.
