New Haven, CT - On Wednesday afternoon the Lady Falcons won their second game in a row as they defeated visting Newbury College 4-1. Albertus scored in just the 2nd minute off the leg of freshman midfielder Amanda Roke (Cheshire, CT) on a pass from freshman forward Samantha Corso (Derby, CT). The Lady Falcons found the back of the net in the 43rd minute off a shot chipped over the keeper by sophomore midfielder Kelly Marchitto (West Haven, CT) who received a nice pass from freshman Shelley Mirmina (Milford, CT). Albertus would add to the lead early in the second half as junior defender Sarah Boudreau (Pascoag, RI) blasted a direct kick into the back of the net in the 47th minute making the score 3-0. The Lady Falcons took the lead 4-0 when freshman midfielder Sam Corso (Derby, CT) finished a ball after a scramble in front of the net in the 65th minute. Newbury College netted a ball in the 86th minute from freshman forward Briana Tomaselli (Warwick, RI) to make the score 4-1. The Lady Falcons improve to 2-2, 0-0 GNAC this season while Newbury College drops to 0-1, 0-0 NECC. Albertus returns to action on Saturday at 1:00 pm on Celentano Field as they host Great Northeast Athletic Conference opponent Norwich University.
