Falcons Upended 2-0 By Suffolk University

New Haven, CT - The Albertus Magnus College Women's Soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision to Great Northeast Athletic Conference opponent Suffolk University on Saturday afternoon.  The Falcons outshot their opponents 19-7 on the afternoon but couldn't find the back of the net.

Senior goalkeeper Emily Joyce (Easton, Mass) was stellar in goal earning 11 saves in the victory for Suffolk. 

Sophomore forward Danielle Figueroa had a pair of scoring opportunities dashed by a diving Joyce in the first half.  The score was 0-0 entering halftime with Albertus holding the edge in shots 11-3.

The Falcons would receive an incredible save of their own from freshman goalkeeper Christina Dineson (Milford, CT/Foran) in the 56th minute.  Freshman forward Meghan McHale (Halifax, MA) blasted a shot towards the upper 90 that Dineson was able to punch over the cross bar to keep the score tied at 0-0.

Suffolk would find the back of the net in the 68th minute when freshman forward Taylor Miranda (Smithtown, NY) blasted a shot over the keeper into the right upper 90 to put Suffolk ahead 1-0.

Suffolk would score just three minutes later in the 71st minute off the leg of freshman midfielder Gabrielle Balestrier (Mohnton, PA) as she finished a deflection to make the final score 2-0.

The loss drops Albertus to 9-4, 6-2 GNAC while Suffolk improves to 8-2-1, 7-2 GNAC.  The Falcons return to action on Monday afternoon at 1:00 pm when they host Emmanuel College in an important GNAC contest.
