Falcons Eliminated by Norwich 5-0

Northfield, VT - The Albertus Magnus College Women's Soccer team was defeated by host Norwich University 5-0 in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) quaterfinals on a snowy Halloween Sunday afternoon.

The Falcons trailed 1-0 at the half as Norwich sophomore midfielder Lisa Esparza (Dover, NH/Dover) finished a goal past a diving freshman goal keeper Christina Dineson (Milford, CT/Foran) in the 13th minute.

The Falcons struggled to find a rhythm in the first half getting out shot 12-4 in the first half but still remained within stiking distance entering the second half.

Norwich stunned Albertus as they scored in the 48th minute and 53rd minutes of play to give them a 3-0 lead.  Two additional goals, including a hat trick from Esparza on the afternoon resulted in the 5-0 final score.

The Falcons struggled to find the back of the net as they outshot Norwich 12-8 in the second half.  Dineson finished with eight saves on the day.

Albertus finishes the season 10-8-1, 7-4-1 GNAC while setting several team records this season.  There is much to look forward to next season as the Falcons graduate just two starters for next season.
