Women's Soccer Shutout in 2-0 Loss to MSMC

The Albertus Magnus women's soccer team fell to Mount Saint Mary College 2-0 on Saturday afternoon for its first loss of the 2011 season.

The Knights scored early, taking a 1-0 lead less than two minutes into today's contest. Tara McDermott connected on a short cross from Sara Sheehan to give Mount Saint Mary College (2-0-0) the advantage.

Erin McKeon scored an unassisted goal in the 49th minute of play to extend the Knights' lead to 2-0.

After opening the season with her first collegiate shutout victory in net for the Falcons, Sarah Boudreau (Pascoag, R.I.) allowed two goals, while recording six saves.

Jacquelyn Mancini earned the win between the posts for the Knights as she earned her second-straight shutout victory after a 2-0 season-opening win over Bard College on Thursday.

Albertus Magnus' Kelly Marchitto (West Haven, Conn.) registered a team-high three shots on the afternoon, while the Falcons outshot the Knights 13-11 in 90 minutes of play.

Albertus Magnus will be back on the road on Monday, Sept. 5 as the Falcons head to Bay Path College for a 1:00 p.m. contest.
