Women's Soccer Falls to Johnson & Wales 1-0

The Albertus Magnus women's soccer team fell to Johnson & Wales (R.I.) by a score of 1-0 on Saturday afternoon in GNAC action in New Haven.

Albertus moves to 6-2 overall as the Falcons pick up their first conference loss of the year, moving to 4-1 in the GNAC standings. Johnson and Wales improves to 5-3 on the year and remain unbeaten in GNAC play with a record of 4-0.

Despite outshooting the Wildcats 12-8, Amanda Aguiar scored her second goal of the season in the 49th minute to lift Johnson & Wales to its fifth-straight victory. Alexa Appelman and Aguiar finished on a give-and-go to tally the lone goal of the contest.

Danielle Figueroa (Bridgeport, Conn.) came off the bench and tallied two shots on goal, including her attempt in the 27th minute, which she drilled at the Wildcats' goalkeeper, who made an outstanding save. Amanda Roke also had two shots on the afternoon as her header in the 56th minute hit the crossbar.

Christina Dineson (Milford, Conn.) made three saves in net for the Falcons as she allowed just her fourth goal all season.

The Wildcats' Kara Collins made four stops for JWU in her third shutout of the year.

The Falcons will return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 28 to take on Mount Ida in a 4:00 p.m. GNAC match at Celentano Field.
