Boudreau, Marchitto Named to 2011 GNAC All-Conference Teams

Sarah Boudreau (Pascoug, R.I.) of the Albertus Magnus women's soccer team has been named to the 2011 GNAC All-Conference First Team, while teammate Kelly Marchitto (West Haven, Conn.) has been  tagged as a Third Team member as announced by the league office on Tuesday.

Boudreau started 15 of 17 games played for the Falcons, while she recorded one goal and one assist for three points as a leader for the Albertus Magnus defense. The senior was a key factor in a defense that allowed just 18 goals all year, while posting a 12-7 overall record.

Boudreau also started three games in goal for the Falcons as well, showing her versatility on the field. In net, she allowed three goals and made 14 saves in 270 minutes of work.

Marchitto, the Falcons' leader in the midfield, started 18 of 19 games played on the year. As one of the Falcons' most consistent players, she tallied two goals and two assists for six points, while registering one game-winning goal in Albertus' 2-0 win over Mount Ida on Sept. 28.

The junior also played in between the pipes for the Falcons as she earned a shutout victory in a 7-0 win over Bay Path College on Sept. 5. She made two saves in her first-career victory in goal.

Both Falcons led their team to their most successful season in the history of the Albertus Magnus women's soccer program. The Falcons won 12 games, a program record, including nine in GNAC play, which also set a program record in regular-season league wins.

Last week, Albertus hosted its first-ever GNAC Tournament contest, while the Falcons were tagged as the tournament's third seed, the best postseason ranking for the program in its history.
