Two second-half goals led the Simmons College Sharks to a 2-0 victory over the Albertus Magnus women's soccer team on Tuesday afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action.

Simmons (5-4, 4-2 GNAC) scored 30 seconds into the second half to take a 1-0 lead as Justine Beauchamp connected on a free ball in the box to register her third goal of the year.  In the 66th minute, Kristyn Heuslein took a pass at the top of the box and beat Albertus goalkeeper Christina Dineson (Milford, Conn.) to give the Sharks a 2-0 advantage.

Simmons outshot the Falcons (6-2-2, 2-1-2 GNAC) in the first half 6-5 as the Sharks also held a 4-1 edge in corners in the frame. They finished the afternoon with a 19-12 shots advantage, while holding a 13-7 clip in the second half.

Dineson registered four of her 10 total saves in the opening frame for the Falcons.

Albertus looked to score late in the contest to cut into Simmons' lead but Briana Hayes made some key saves for the Sharks.

With less than 31 minutes to go, the Falcons' Danielle Figueroa (Bridgeport, Conn.) beat three defenders to the ball down the middle of the field and drilled a shot on net, which was stopped by Hayes as the freshman got both hands on the ball to bat it out of bounds.

Off of a corner kick in the 63rd minute, Becky Slivinsky (Plainville, Conn.) and Figueroa got off shots in the box as both were blocked by Simmons' defenders keeping the score at 1-0 in the Sharks' favor.

Figueroa led the Falcons with four shots on the afternoon, while Kelly Marchitto (West Haven, Conn.) added three.

Albertus will host Norwich in GNAC play on Saturday as the Falcons will welcome the Cadets in a women's/men's soccer double-header at Celentano Field. The women's contest is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
