Meaghan Skidmore Lifts Falcons to 1-0 win at Rivier

Meaghan Skidmore (Terryville, Conn.) scored the game-winning goal less than two minutes into the overtime period to give the Albertus Magnus women's soccer team a 1-0 victory over Rivier University in Great Northeast Athletic Conference play on Saturday.
Skidmore beat Rivier goalkeeper Cassandra Brown to end the contest in the Falcons' favor.

The loss moves the Raiders record to 2-4-1 and 1-2-0 in the GNAC, while Albertus improves to 5-3-2, 2-1-0 in the GNAC, with the win. 

Albertus outshot the Raiders 29-5, while Brown made eight saves for Rivier. Maria Case (West Haven, Conn.) stopped all three shots faced for the Falcons.

Today's contest marked the fourth of 2013 in which the Falcons have won by one goal.

Albertus will play host to Mount Ida on Wednesday afternoon in league action. That game is scheduled for a 4:00 p.m. start time.
