There were plenty of fans, food, and most certainly goals at Celentano Field Saturday afternoon as the Albertus Magnus women's soccer team recognized its senior day. The Falcons added to the celebration by earning a 6-0 victory over the Anna Maria AMCATS (4-10-1, 0-9 GNAC).

The first half started positive for the Falcons as they dominated possession. The Falcons had five corner kick opportunities in just the first 18 minutes of action. After the first four shots from Albertus Magnus were turned away by sophomore goalkeeper Teresa Ryan, Danielle Polvan (East Haven, Conn.) scored.  In the 25th minute Polvan beat a few defenders dribbling through the midfield and did not stop there. She met the final line of defense, beat the central defender, and hit a shot along the ground to the far post beating the outstretched goalkeeper.

It didn't take long for Polvan to strike again as she netted her seventh goal of the season. Polvan proved dominant in only eight minutes of play after she entered the game in the 23rd minute.

It was the seniors' turn to steal the spotlight from the young freshman in the 41st minute as Shannon Skidmore (Terryville, Conn.) buried a bouncing ball in the box. Skidmore scored her second goal of the season and her 10th goal of her career.

The first half ended 3-0 as the Falcons' outshot the AMCATS 18 to 0. They also had nine corner kicks.

Jessica Radecki (Milford, Conn.) had a storybook ending to her senior day as she scored her first career goal as a Falcon. Radecki has been dominant in the back defending for the Falcons for four years. In the 51st minute, Radecki pushed forward on a Falcon counterattack. The ball was swung outside to senior midfielder Meghan Loughman (Trumbull, Conn.) who sent a beautiful ball into the box. Radecki rose to the ball and guided the ball back post with her head shaking the side net with the fourth goal of the game. This was one of two assists for Loughman on the day.

Goal poaching striker Amanda Roke (Cheshire, Conn.) joined the action only five minutes later as she scored her 27th career goal for the Falcons. Senior midfielder Shelley Mirmina (Milford, Conn.) fired a shot to the far post from the left flank. A diving Ryan got a hand to it but Roke was crashing the rebound and cashed in on the Falcons' fifth goal of the game. Mirmina recorded her 14th career assist improving to second all-time in assists just behind her fellow teammate Roke.

Forwards Meaghan Skidmore (Terryville, Conn.) and Gabrielle Roberts (Plymouth, Conn.) also had outstanding games, constantly testing the goalkeeper as they combined for five shots.

In the 65th minute, Miranda Jassil (North Branford, Conn.) added to what was an already stellar day. After receiving the ball in the midfield towards the sideline, Jassil looked up and had a go from about 30 yards out. The ball sailed over the goalkeeper's head and snuck right under the crossbar as the Falcons' buried their sixth of the game. This was Jassil's first goal of her career.

The seniors most certainly had an unbelievable day scoring three goals, dishing out three assists and accounting for 20 of the Falcons' total 36 shots.

The Falcons improve their record to 8-1 in the GNAC and 11-3-2 overall. They look to take on the Wildcats of Johnson & Wales Tuesday afternoon at Celentano Field in New Haven, Conn.
