Falcons Soar Past MCLA 2-0

The Albertus Magnus College womens soccer team cruised to a 2-0 victory over host Massachussetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) on Monday afternoon.

The Falcons scored their first goal of the afternoon in the 27th minute off of the foot of senior captain Becky Slivinsky (Plainville, Conn.) who received a a nice pass from sophomore Danielle Polvan (East Haven, Conn.) to give Albertus the 1-0 lead. 

Albertus would add another goal in the 33rd minute off the head of freshman Liziana Silva (Waterbury, Conn.) who finished a cross off the foot of senior Taylor Jagoe (Milford, Conn.).

The Falcons out shot MCLA 16-4 on the day and also held a 7-1 corner kick advantage.

Albertus improves to 1-1, 0-0 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play while MCLA drops to 0-1-1 on the young season.  The Falcons return to action on Friday as they travel to Connecticut College for a non-conference match scheduled for a 4:45 p.m. kick-off.
