Albertus Drops 3-1 Decision to Connecticut College

The Albertus Magnus women's soccer team dropped a 3-1 decision to host Connecticut College on Friday evening.

The Falcons would face an early 1-0 deficit when Alexa Tribelli (Cranston, R.I.) found the back of the net in the seventh minute after she found herself one-on-one versus junior Albertus goalie Maria Case (West Haven, Conn.).

Connecticut College would add to their first half lead in the 38th minute when Stephanie Gittings (Greenwich, Conn.) redirected a pass in the center of the box to give Connecticut College a 2-0 lead.

Abby Fagan (Westport, Conn.) would finish a corner kick three minutes later to give Connecticut College a 3-0 advantage at the half.

In the second half, the Camels continued to pressure but the Falcons would get themselves on the board eight minutes into the second half as sohomore forward Kaitlyn Fedumenti (Stratford Conn.) buried a free kick from 30 yards out to cut the lead to 3-1.

The Falcons continued to battle and had another great scoring opportunity thwarted by Amanda Onofrio (Greenwich, Conn.) with just under seven minutes remaining.  Fedumenti drove to the goal before Onofrio was able to just get a piece of the shot that would miss wide right.

Case had a season high 12 saves on the night as Albertus was outshot 30-7 in the game.

Albertus drops to 1-2, 0-0 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play on the young season and returns to action on Sunday when they play host to Eastern Connecticut State University at 1:00 p.m. on Celentano Field.
