The Albertus Magnus College women's soccer team were edged by host Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) opponent St. Joseph's College 1-0 on Saturday afternoon.

The Falcons could not overcome an early miscue that resulted in the only goal of the contest.  In the opening seconds of the contest, senior forward Danielle Daigle (Dayton, Maine) scored when a cleared ball was misplayed by the Falcons.

Albertus would threaten to score late in the second half when sophomore midfielder Danielle Polvan's (East Haven, Conn.) shot in the 68th minute sailed just wide left.  Following a Monks foul, sophomore forward Kaitlyn Fedumenti (Stratford, Conn.) was awarded a free kick from 40 yards out but her strike narrowly cleared the cross bar.  Junior forward Acacia Nelson (Bridgeport, Conn.) used her speed to generate pressure throughout the match taking three shots, two on goal but couldn't find teh back of the net.

The Falcons held the advantage in shots (13-11) as well as corner kicks (4-1) on the afternoon.  St. Joe's freshmen keeper Brooke Troup (East Bridgewater, Mass.) had four saves in the shut while junior Albertus keeper Maria Case (West Haven, Conn.) played well making seven saves in the loss.

Albertus drops to 5-5-1, 2-1 GNAC while St. Joe's improves to 5-5-1, 2-1 GNAC.  The Falcons return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Johnson & Wales University for a 6:30 PM GNAC match.
