Albertus Lands Five on GNAC All-Conference Teams

Five members of the Albertus Magnus women's soccer team have earned 2014 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) All-Conference honors as announced by the league office on Tuesday.  Three players were named to the First Team, including sophomores Danielle Polvan (East Haven, Conn.) and Alexis Mack (Meriden, Conn.) as well as junior goalkeeper Maria Case (West Haven, Conn.).

Freshman Angelina Piccirillo (Naugatuck, Conn.) was named to the Second Team, while sophomore Kaitlyn Fedumenti (Stratford, Conn.) was tagged as a Third Team selection.

For Polvan, Mack and Case, this is their second-straight All-Conference honor as all three Falcons earned the recognition in 2013.  For all three, it is the first time that they earned the First Team accolade.  The three Falcons also mark the most members of the Albertus program on the First Team, while for Case and Polvan, they are just two of six total Falcons to earn All-Conference Team honors multiple times during their career.

Polvan led the Falcons on the year with 25 points with a team-high 11 goals along with three assists.  After scoring two goals, including the game winner in double-overtime, in the Falcons' GNAC Tournament quarterfinal victory, Polvan was named to the GNAC All-Tournament Team.  She also tallied four game-winning goals on the year.  In 2013, she was tagged as a Third Team All-Conference selection.

Mack, who was a 2013 Second Team selection, played in 19 contests this season and tallied one assist for one point.  She continued to be a defensive threat for the Falcons.

Case made 82 saves this year for the Falcons and posted a GAA of 1.19 and a .796 save percentage.  She tallied four shutouts in goal for Albertus as well.  In 2013, she was a Second Team selection, while she is now a First Team pick in 2014.

As a freshman, Piccirillo received Second Team accolades after registering eight points on one goal and six assists, while Fedumenti was tagged as a Third Team member after leading the Falcons with eight assists on the year.  She also tallied five goals to total 18 points. Fedumenti was named to the GNAC All-Tournament Team after registering a goal and an assist in the Falcons' 3-2 double-overtime victory over the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) on Nov. 2.
