New Haven, Conn. – Junior midfielder Kaitlyn Fedumenti (Stratford, Conn.) scored two goals and sophomore midfielder Angelina Piccirillo (Naugatuck, Conn.) registered a pair of assists to lead the Albertus Magnus College women's soccer team past visiting Suffolk, 3-0, on Wednesday night under the lights at Celentano Field in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action.

With their second consecutive GNAC victory, the Falcons improve to 8-7-2 overall and 6-4 in conference play, while the loss dropped the Rams to 3-15 on the year and 2-8 in league tilts.

It was a record-setting night in the net for Albertus Magnus goalkeeper Maria Case (West Haven, Conn.) as the senior set a new program best with her 17th career shutout. In her fourth blank sheet of the season, Case turned aside both shots she faced to re-write the record books.

After a relatively quiet first 35 minutes of action, the Falcons drew a corner to the right side of Suffolk freshman goalkeeper Kristen Weiker. Fedumenti played a high lofty cross into the box that resulted in a foul being called and the hosts were rewarded a penalty kick. Fedumenti stepped up to the ball and fired a shot past a diving Weiker into the lower right side of the net to give the Falcons a 1-0 lead. The penalty was the lone strike in the first half as AMC entered halftime with the one-goal edge.

Junior midfielder Taylor Rotella (Milford, Conn.) gave Albertus Magnus a 2-0 lead with her thrid goal of the season in the 59th minute. Off a corner from Piccirillo, Rotella connected with her head from just inside the penalty area and beat Weiker. At first, it appeared Weiker made the save, but the ball slipped through her finger tips and crossed the goal line.

Late in the second half, Fedumenti struck again to close the scoring and give the Falcons a three-goal lead. Off a corner from Piccirillo, Fedumenti played the ball with her foot in the penalty area and finished in the lower left side. It was her fourth tally of the fall as she doubled her season scoring total in the game.

In net, Weiker made eight saves in a losing effort for Suffolk.

All three Falcon goals came off corner kicks in the game.

Albertus Magnus held an 18-7 advantage in shots and took nine corners compared to just three for the Rams.

Albertus Magnus returns to action on Saturday, October 24, hosting Johnson & Wales in GNAC action during the College's 19th annual Fall Fest. The clash with the Wildcats is slated to begin at 5:30 pm and will be under the lights. Prior to the contest, the team will honor the senior class for their contributions to the program.
