Women's Soccer Earns NSCAA Team Ethics & Sportsmanship Award

New Haven, Conn. – For the fourth straight season under Head Coach Nick Wajnowski, the Albertus Magnus College women's soccer team earned the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) College Team Ethics and Sportsmanship Award. In 2015, the Falcons received the Bronze version after a successful fall campaign.

Given annually, the award recognizes teams that exhibit fair play, sporting behavior and adherence to the laws of the game, as reflected by the number of yellow caution cards or red ejection cards they are shown by referees throughout the season based on the number of cards accumulated divided by the number of games played.

"I am very proud of our program receiving this award for the fourth year in a row," Wajnowski said. "Part of what we teach is how to handle oneself when dealing with adversity and that shows in limiting yellow cards. Sportsmanship is critical in any game and the NSCAA does a good job in recognizing programs who have earned the award. Congratulations to our program."

In total, 83 teams received either the Platinum, Gold, Silver or Bronze version of the College Team Ethics and Sportsmanship Award. The Bronze version signifies that Albertus Magnus' percentage of cards accumulated during the season ranged from 31-50%. The Falcons were the lone Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) team represented.
