WINTHROP, Mass. – With the start of the 2022 season fast approaching, the Albertus Magnus College women's soccer team was selected sixth in the 2022 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Preseason Coaches' Poll, as announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon.
The Falcons secured 119 points to take sixth place in the rankings. Albertus edged Emmanuel (Mass.) College by two points to ensure their second-consecutive sixth-place finish in the GNAC Preseason Poll.
AMC concluded its 2021 campaign with an 11-6 overall record and a 9-4 mark in conference play. The Falcons earned the fifth seed in the GNAC Tournament after their stellar season. The blue-and-white placed three players on the All-Conference squads, as Haley Andrews (Prospect, Conn.) and Amanda McGeehan (Milford, Conn.) took home 2nd-Team honors, while Keegan Riccio (West Haven, Conn.) received a Third-Team nod.
The 2021 GNAC Championship, Johnson & Wales (R.I.) University, took the top slot in this year's rankings with 194 points and 12 of the possible 14 first-place votes. Lasell University followed up with a second-place selection and 176 points, while Saint Joseph's College of Maine came in third with 172 points and the final two first-place votes.
The Blue Jays of the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) were slotted in fourth place, securing 142 points, while the Pride of Regis (Mass.) College took home fifth-place honors with a score of 132. The Saints of Emmanuel (Mass.) College garnered 117 points and a seventh-place finish, while Elms College took eighth place with 96 points.
The Colby-Sawyer College Chargers and Norwich University Cadets secured ninth and 10-place, with 82 points and 67 points, respectively. Simmons University was picked next in 11th place and nabbed 48 points, while Dean College, Anna Maria College, and Rivier University rounded out the poll with 47 points, 46 points, and 32 points, respectively.
