Women's Soccer Picked 7th In GNAC Preseason Poll

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Albertus Magnus College women's soccer team was picked to finish seventh in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) preseason poll.

The Falcons received 149 voting points and sit in between the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) with 173 voting points and Colby-Sawyer with 135 voting points.

Johnson and Wales, the three-time reigning champion was unanimously picked to win the conference for a fourth straight year, receiving 256 voting points and all 16 first place votes. The Wildcats went 13-0 in GNAC play last season. Lasell, who was last season's runner up, was picked second with 228 voting points. Saint Joseph (Me.) was picked third with 214 voting points.

Last season, the Falcons finished in sixth place with a 9-6-4 overall record and 6-4-3 in the GNAC. They upset No. 3 Emmanuel in the quarterfinals, 2-1 before falling to Lasell, 3-0 in the GNAC semifinals.

The Falcons open their season at home on Friday, September 1 against Purchase.
