No. 6 Women's Soccer Season Comes To an End in GNAC Quarterfinals Loss at Rivier

NASHUA, N.H. — In the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Quarterfinals, the No. 6 Albertus Magnus College women's soccer team fell, 2-0, to No. 3 Rivier University on Saturday.

Ejalam Bravo (New Britain, Conn.) lead the Falcons with two of their four shots on goal, while Ashley Shaw (Milford, Conn.) and Erina Ismaili (Middlebury, Conn.) each attempted one on target. Amy Stevens (Lincoln, R.I.) denied five Raiders shots between the posts. 

Albertus finished the season with 10 wins, which was the most since the 2021 season where they secured 11 victories.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • After eight minutes of play, the Raiders netted their first goal of the game as Olivia Maxwell sent the cross to Emily Harper. Prior to the goal, Albertus two shots that fell wide, but the Falcons held the hosts to no shots in the opening minutes of the first period.
  • Ismaili had a close opportunity to put the visitors on the board, before Bri Nugent sent the shot away. Ismaili drew the corner off the shot attempt but the Falcons couldn't capitalize on the opportunity.
  • After a blocked shot by Bravo, the home team drew a foul for a penalty kick by Darcy Wright as the Raiders padded their lead by one in the 36th minute.
  • Bravo and Shaw were the only two Falcons with an chance to score, but Nugent was able to save them both in the final half.
