Middletown, Conn. - The Albertus Magnus College women's swimming and diving competed in their first Connecticut Cup hosted by Wesleyan University on Saturday afternoon at the Wesleyan Natatorium.

This Invitational invited all Division III Colleges located in Connecticut to compete and this year it consisted of: U.S. Coast Guard Academy, Connecticut College, Wesleyan University, Western Connecticut State University, Eastern Connecticut State University, University of Saint Joseph (CT), and of course Albertus Magnus, competing for the first year.

Sophomore Megan Anderson (Levittown, NY) solidified her spot at Regionals with a "A" cut in her 50 breaststroke, while Kiara Pabon (Hamden, Conn.) swam personal bests. Arle Cruceta (Salcedo, Dominican Republic) dropped huge amounts of time to be the true stand out of the group at this competition.

Head Coach Lauren Pallone explained that mid-season invitationals are where the team can finally start to see where all their hard work is starting to pay off.  "Our sport is very different than your typical team sports, unfortunately you have to wait months to see the pay out of your hard work and dedication. The girls got a glimpse of that this past weekend and I think there is a new fire and excitement surrounding us all as we head into the last half of our season."
