Women's Swimming & Diving Sits Sixth after Day One of GNAC Championships

Day One Final Results

WELLESLEY, Mass. - The Albertus Magnus College women's swimming & diving team closed out day one of the 2023 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Swimming & Diving Championships sitting in sixth place after tallying a total of 120 points.

AMC sits ahead of both Regis (Mass.) College with 93 points and Elms College with 13 points. Norwich University paces the event with 294 points through day one, followed by Simmons University with 212 points.

DAY 1 FINAL RESULTS (⅔)

200-yard Medley Relay

200-yard Freestyle

  • In the seventh event of the day, Oliver recorded a sixth-place finish for the Falcons behind a time of 2:27.42.

50-yard Butterfly

  • Gutierrez Gomez posted an impressive time of 28.34 seconds in the event to finish third out of 11 swimmers.

100-yard Breaststroke 

  • Megan Anderson (Levittown, N.Y.) finished in sixth place, touching the wall in a time of 1:17.45.
  • Anderson's tie of 1:17.45 was a personal best for the graduate student. 
  • Estrada followed closely behind Anderson, finishing in seventh place after posting a time of 1:20.07.
  • Estrada's time of 1:20.07 was a personal best for the sophomore. 
  • Gordillo swam behind a time to 1:59.09 to claim 12th place. 

1000-yard Freestyle

  • Olander recorded an eighth-place finish in the 1000-yard freestyle behind a time of 12:46.41.

400-yard Freestyle Relay

  • The foursome of Oliver, Anderson, Gutierrez Gomez, and Estrada finished in sixth place with a time of 4:13.88.

The women's swimming & diving team returns to the pool tomorrow, Saturday, February 4 for day two of the GNAC Championships. Prelims begin at 10:00 a.m. inside the Boston Sports Institute in Wellesley, Mass.
