
WORCESTER, Mass. — Silvia Valeria Avila Estrada (Zapopan, Mexico) earned top marks in the 100-yard breaststroke and the 400-yard IM for the Albertus Magnus College women's swimming & diving team on the first day of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championships hosted by WPI on Friday. The Falcons are seventh with 86 points, while Norwich University (288), Simmons University (281) and Regis College (212) are the top three after day one.
Avila Estrada swam a personal-best time of 4:51.72 in the 400-yard IM and crossed the finish line with a time of 1:11.03 in the 100-yard breaststroke. The first-year came in 48.18 seconds faster than second-place finisher Chaelin Humphrey from Simmons in the 400-yard IM.
Emily Morales (Southington, Conn.) earned a personal best time of 1:34.16 in the 100-yard breaststroke.
Albertus kicks off day two of the Championships on Saturday at 10 a.m.
