Despite an impressive outing by senior Chantal Simmons, the Albertus Magnus women's tennis team fell to Anna Maria College 6-3 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action on Wednesday afternoon.
Simmons won No. 5 singles for the Falcons with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Casey Harrington after teaming up with Sharinna Luna to win No. 3 doubles against the AMCat's Harrington and Krystle Arce by a score of 8-6.
Anna Maria (1-3) won singles matches one thru four with Albertus' Malika Grant battling in a close No. 4 match-up against Katelyn Edelson. Edelson defeated Grant 6-1 in the first set before Grant battled in the second set but ultimately fell 7-6 in the frame.
In the final singles' match, Sogona Sacko defeated the AMCats' Freya Sprous 8-3 in the No. 6 position to register the Falcons' third point of the contest.
Albertus returns to action on Saturday as the Falcons host Emmanuel College in a 1:00 p.m. GNAC match-up.
