Norwich Edges Falcons in 5-Set Thriller

The Albertus Magnus women's volleyball team battled Norwich University in a 3-2 loss on Saturday afternoon at Suffolk University in Boston.

With the conference loss, Albertus moved to 9-13 on the year. The scores in the match were 15-25, 25-19, 25-16, 22-25, and 16-18.

The match was close throughout as the Falcons dropped the first set but battled back to win the next two with ease.  The fourth set was a nail-biter until the end as the Cadets snuck out with a three-point win.  In the final set, the score was kept close but Norwich secured the match victory with an 18-16 win.

The Falcons were led in the match by 13 kills from Melissa Manning (Milford, Conn.) and 10 kills from Amber Cohens (Hamden, Conn.).  Senior Lily Dy (Torrington, Conn.) dished out 33 assists, while he added five kills and a team-high 16 digs. 

Caitlin Prete (Milford, Conn.) added 11 digs, two service aces, and eight kills in 35 attempts.

Norwich's Kelsey Mancini led all players with 23 kills, while Andrea Moreno led all players with 24 digs.

Albertus' Alyssa Puccilli (Milford, Conn.) added 14 digs and three service aces, while freshman Amy Seliga (East Haven, Conn.) had three service aces as well.

Manning added 10 digs for her 11th double-double of the season.  Leanna Velez (Waterbury, Conn.) recorded eight digs for the Falcons.
