Rosario Named Albertus Head Women’s Volleyball Coach

Director of Athletics Jim Abromaitis has announced the hiring of Vanessa Rosario as the new head coach of the Albertus Magnus College women's volleyball team.

Rosario recently served as an assistant coach for the program at Albertus Magnus since graduating from Springfield College in 2012 with her Masters of Social Work.  She was also a 2011 graduate for Springfield, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Youth Development.

Rosario, a native of New Haven, Conn., was a 2007 graduate of Hyde Leadership High School in Hamden and is currently a Safe Haven Clinician at the Boys and Girls Village in Milford, Conn.

As a player, Rosario led Hyde to conference and state tournament appearances during her senior year as she was named a Second Team All-State selection in 2005. In 2006, she earned First-Team All-State honors. Rosario also played basketball and ran outdoor track.

While at Springfield College, she played on the junior varsity team as a libero and defensive specialist. She credits joining Pequenas Ligas Hispana de New Haven Volleyball program at age 14 for her improvement as a player.

Rosario also coached volleyball at Bay Path College, helping the Wildcats build the strength of their program over two seasons.

Steve Wydra, who served as interim head coach for the 2014 season, will remain on the coaching staff for the Falcons and will move to the Associate Head Coach position alongside Rosario. Wydra has been a part of both the Albertus Magnus men's and women's volleyball programs since 2007.
