Women's Volleyball Freshman Gina Cintron Named to GNAC All-Sportsmanship Team

Winthrop, Mass. – Albertus Magnus College freshman women's volleyball player Gina Cintron (New Haven, Conn.) has been named to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) All-Sportsmanship Team as announced by the league office Tuesday afternoon.

Cintron and the Falcons finished the regular season last week with an overall record of 5-18 and finished 11th in the GNAC with a 1-10 mark in conference action. In her first season at the helm of the program, Head Coach Vanessa Rosario guided Albertus Magnus to non-conference wins against York, Medgar Evers, Purchase and Elms, while also topping conference foe Norwich, 3-0, on the road.

Cintron, an outside hitter, appeared in all 23 matches for Albertus Magnus, stepping on the court for 74 of 77 sets. She ranked fourth on the squad with 45 kills to go along with nine assists and seven aces. Defensively, she recorded 97 digs and in total, she accounted for 53.0 points this autumn. Cintron registered five or more kills in a match three times this season and had seven or more digs in a contest six times.

Founded in 1995, the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) is an NCAA Division III association made up of 12 member institutions, 12 associate member institutions, and over 3,000 student-athletes across the New England region. Each year, the GNAC sponsors and administers 17 championships, while balancing academic integrity, athletic opportunities and community involvement.
