Women's Volleyball Falls at Elms in Four Sets

CHICOPEE, Mass. - The Albertus Magnus College women's volleyball team suffered a four-set loss to the Blazers of Elms College in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action on Thursday evening in Chicopee, Mass.

  • The Blazers took the first two sets, owning .375 and .270 hitting percentages in the first and second frames.
  • Albertus answered in the third, earning a 26-24 win with stellar play at the service line.
  • In the third, the Falcons combined for eight aces, four from Ivanna Sanfeliz (Dorado, Puerto Rico), three from Elayna Beutel (Prospect, Conn.), and one from Jaiden Williams (Orange, Conn.).
  • Unfortunately for AMC, its rally was halted in the fourth set, as Elms ended the match with a 25-14 triumph.
  • Beutel & Diana Kalman (East Haven, Conn.) paced the Falcon offense in the evening match with six kills each.
  • Kalman maintained a stellar .217 hitting percentage on her 23 attempts.
  • In addition to leading all players with five aces, Sanfeliz also paced the Falcons with 13 digs.
  • Williams finished the match with a team-best 13 assists on Albertus' 19 kills.

The Falcons will next compete in a GNAC tri-match at Anna Maria College on Saturday, Oct. 9, in Paxton, Mass. Albertus will first challenge Lasell University at 12 p.m. before taking on the hosts AMCATS at 2 p.m.
