College Sports Communicators Release

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Peyton Davis (North Haven, Conn.), Diana Kalman (East Haven, Conn.), and Rachael Pellegrini (Clinton, Conn.) of the Albertus Magnus College women's volleyball team were named to the 2022 Academic All-District Women's Volleyball Team, selected by the College Sports Communicators (CSC). The CSC recognizes student-athletes from all over the nation for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.

To be eligible for Academic All-District honors, student-athletes must be a sophomore or higher with a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.5. In addition, these student-athletes must also have played in at least 50 percent of the team's competitions throughout the season.

Academic All-District winners advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. In addition, first-, Second-, and Third-Team Academic All-America honorees will be announced in early December.

Davis, a three-year starter for the Falcons, appeared in 28 matches this season as a senior. The North Haven, Conn., native finished the 2022 campaign third on the team in total kills (102), kills per set (1.13), and total digs (184). Davis also chipped in 14 assists, 12 aces, and five blocks on the year.

Kalman concluded her storied career with the Falcons by pacing the team with 176 kills, 2.02 kills per set, 34 service aces, 40 blocks, and 0.46 blocks per set. The senior also ranked third on the team with 2.09 digs per set and fourth with 182 total digs. The East Haven, Conn., native tallied three double-doubles on the season, which included an outstanding 14-kill, 20-dig performance in a five-set AMC win over Curry College.

Rounding out Albertus' list of honorees is Pellegrini, who posted a stellar sophomore campaign in 2022. The second-year setter appeared in all but one match this season, orchestrating the Falcons' offense with a career-best 303 assists (3.48/set). She also contributed 142 digs, 17 kills, 14 aces, and one block as an all-around weapon for Albertus. Pellegrini ended the season with four double-doubles, highlighted by her 20-assist, 20-dig outing in a five-set thriller against Salem State University.

The Falcons earned six wins as a team in 2022, with two coming in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play, under second-year head coach Ashley David.
