NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Albertus Magnus College women's volleyball team lost a 3-0 match to the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) on Wednesday in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) matchup on Wednesday evening in The Nest on the campus of Albertus Magnus.

Majo Pelaez (Armenia, Colombia) led the way for the Falcons with 12 kills.

HIGHLIGHTS

The Blue Jays scored the first five points in set one, but the Falcons were able to rally to get within one at 11-10 as Nyanna Richards had two kills during the early rally. The Blue Jays, however were able to pull away as the Falcons never led in the set. Victoria Adler had seven kills for the Blue Jays in the set.

The second set started out better for the Falcons, as the two teams split the first 20 points as Pelaez had two kills early on. The Blue Jays once again went on a run, scoring the next seven points to take a commanding 17-10 lead. Albertus did not get any closer than six points the rest of the way.

In a thrilling third set, the Falcons jumped out to a 9-6 lead as Colleen Edwards (Clinton, Conn.) and Pelaez had two kills early on while Elizabeth Lynch (Stratford, Conn.) and Shalese Gordon (Bridgeport, Conn.) each had one. It was a nail-biting set through and through as the teams tied 14 times. The Falcons finished with 16 kills in the set, including seven from Pelaez and four from Edwards. Albertus had set point on four occassions, but the Blue Jays battled back each time and ended the match scoring the final three points of the match.
