Women's Cross Country Competes at Saint Joseph College

The Albertus Magnus women's cross country team took sixth place at the Saint Joseph College Invitational on Saturday afternoon in West Hartford, Conn.

Veronica Blekis took 12th place to lead the Falcons as she finished the 2.75-mile race with a time of 21:53.

Jeptui Cherutich from AIC took first place with a time of 18:26 as AIC had three of the top-five finishers.

AIC (34 points) took first place as a team and was followed by Framingham State (51) and Bridgeport (55) to mark the top-three teams in the race.

The Falcons' Alisha Darin took 26th place with a time of 24:27, while Kalya Miller and Lianna Carerro took 31st and 32nd, respectively. Miller's time of 25:24 was just ahead of Carerro, who finished in 25:48.

Cara Ann Cama finished the race in 26:31 for 34th place for the Falcons.

Albertus registered 135 points, finishing ahead of Bay Path College in the team results.

The Falcons will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 8 in a noon race at Westfield State.
