A NEW WEEK
Following a 1-2 week, the Albertus Magnus College women's volleyball team prepares for a quartet of matches this week, including its home opener against CCNY on Tuesday evening. On Thursday, the Falcons travel to Brookline, Mass. to battle Newbury College before wrapping up the week with a pair of road matches against the College of New Rochelle and Rutgers-Newark.

WEEK ONE HIGHLIGHTS

• Sophomore Jesselle Guzman (Santa Teresa, N.M.) set a new career-high in digs with 26 in the loss to SUNY Cobleskill.
• In the loss to Elms, sophomore Ashley David (West Islip, N.Y.) set a new career-high in kills with 15, while senior Marielis Muriel (New Haven, Conn.) recorded a new career-high 31 assists.
• Muriel recorded back-to-back doubles doubles last week against Castleton and SUNY Cobleskill.
• Freshman Genesis Cora Luquis (Meriden, Conn.) recorded her first collegiate double-double following an 11 kill and 11 dig performance.

The Albertus Magnus College women's volleyball team was picked to finish 13th in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Preseason Poll.

A QUICK LOOK BACK AT LAST YEAR

• The women's volleyball team ended the 2016 fall season with a 7-20 overall record and landed in 12th-place in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) with a 0-11 mark in league action.
• Head Coach Vanessa Rosario guided the Falcons to non-conference wins against York, Elms, Purchase State, Medgar Evers and CCNY.
• Albertus Magnus swept the season series with York and Medgar Evers, defeating both the Cardinals and Cougars twice during the autumn.
• The team also won back-to-back matches on two separate occasions in 2016.
• Albertus Magnus opened the year with two straight wins at the Blazer Invitational hosted by Elms.

UP NEXT
The Falcons return to action next week against Medgar Evers, Mitchell, Maine Presq. And Becker.
