Freshman Aimee Mirto (Hamden, Conn.) hit her first collegiate home run to lift the Albertus Magnus softball team to a 5-2 win over Bay Path College in non-conference action on Tuesday afternoon.

Mirto, who finished the game 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI, homered over the left field fence in the top of the sixth inning to give the Falcons' a 3-0 lead. Her run was the eventual game winner.

Albertus (6-7) took an early 2-0 lead in the second inning as Leyna Andren (Manahawkin, N.J.) recorded an RBI single up the middle to score Mirto from third. An error by the Bay Path catcher scored the Falcons' second run of the ballgame.

Bay Path scored its two runs in the bottom of the sixth after Mirto's homer put three runs on the board for the Falcons. The Wildcats scored their two runs on two hits and two Albertus errors as both runs were unearned.

The Falcons added two more runs in the seventh inning led by an RBI single from Danielle Figueroa (Bridgeport, Conn.) as Albertus took a 5-2 advantage.

Danielle Thuerling (Wallingford, Conn.) threw her eighth complete game of the season as she improved to 4-5 with the victory. The freshman struck out a season-high 10 batters in the win as she allowed five hits and two runs, both unearned.

In the first game of the afternoon double-header, Figueroa added a two-hit, one RBI performance for the Falcons, while Melissa Manning (Milford, Conn.) contributed with a hit and a run scored. The Falcons recorded five stolen bases as Krista LaBissoniere (Meriden, Conn.) tallied two on the afternoon.
