Softball Drops 4-0 Decision to Saint Joseph’s College (Maine)

The Albertus Magnus softball team dropped a 4-0 decision to Saint Joseph's College of Maine on Saturday night in game one of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference double-header. The Monks? Maddie Kluna threw a complete-game shutout as she gave up just three hits to the Falcons in the contest.

Kluna (5-3) earned the win for the Monks as her team improved to 8-3 overall and 3-0 in the GNAC standings. The loss for the Falcons dropped their overall record to 4-5.

Saint Joseph's scored one run in the second and three in the third before both teams were shutout for the final four innings of play.

Theresa Hendrix went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run scored for the Monks, while Kim Jordan added a hit and an RBI in the victory. The Falcons were led by Elaina Maio (West Haven, Conn.) with two hits, while Melissa Manning (Milford, Conn.) added a hit as well.

Danielle Thuerling (Wallingford, Conn.) took the loss for the Falcons as she evened her record out to 3-3. The freshman threw a complete game and allowed six hits and four runs, while striking out two.
