Mount Ida's Tiffany Hamann recorded a walk-off RBI single as the Mustangs came-from-behind to defeat the Albertus Magnus softball team 6-5 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action on Saturday afternoon.

Albertus took a 4-0 lead after the first inning thanks to a three-run home run by freshman Aimee Mirto (Hamden, Conn.). After an RBI single by Elaina Maio (West Haven, Conn.) scored Danielle Figueroa (Bridgeport, Conn.) to give the Falcons a 1-0 lead, Mirto connected on her fourth home run of the season to extend the Falcons' lead to 4-0.

Figueroa scored the Falcons' fifth run of the contest in the second inning as she walked then stole two bases to get into scoring position. A single up the middle by Krista LaBissoniere (Meriden, Conn.) plated Figueroa, giving the Falcons a 5-0 advantage.

Mount Ida tallied a run in the fourth then two in the fifth to cut the lead to 5-3. In the sixth, the Mustangs scored one run to make it a one-run ballgame.

In the Mustangs' seventh-inning rally, the Falcons recorded two outs with one runner on base before a costly infield error extended the frame. An RBI single from Devan Meeker tied the game at five before the walk-off single to left by Tiffany Hamann scored Megan Hall from third to secure the GNAC victory.

Danielle Thuerling (Wallingford, Conn.) made the start for the Falcons and threw three-shutout innings before Melissa Manning (Milford, Conn.) replaced the freshman on the hill. Manning took the loss as she allowed six runs, two of which were earned, on seven Mustang hits. Mount Ida's Devan Meeker earned the win for the Mustangs as she allowed five runs on eight hits, while she struck out seven batters.
