Urciuoli & Jessey Earn GNAC All-Conference Honors

Junior Brittney Urciuoli (Newington, Conn.) and freshman Amanda Jessey (East Haven, Conn.) have earned spots on the 2014 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) All-Conference Third Team as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon. Urciuoli and Jessey are the first Falcons to earn All-Conference recognition since 2012.

In the regular season, Urciuoli led the team with three triples to go along with 11 walks, 14 stolen bases and 24 hits.  She tallied 22 runs scored as well.  The junior added two doubles and a home run and played in 30 games during the regular season as she batted .296. She also had an 11-game hitting streak during the season.

Jessey was the only Falcon to play in all 33 regular-games this season. She led the team with 41 hits, seven doubles and 29 runs scored and tallied one triple, one home run and 15 RBI as a rookie.  The freshman batted .390 and recorded 13 multiple-hit games.  Jessey posted a seven-game hitting streak earlier in the season and was named GNAC Rookie of the Week on April 16.  She also was named to the GNAC Weekly Honor Roll on March 18.

Additionally, Urciuoli was named to the 2014 GNAC All-Sportsmanship Team.

The Falcons made an appearance in the GNAC Tournament for the first time since the 2006 season.  They finished the regular season with a 17-16 overall record and a 10-12 mark in league play.  After a first-round loss in the postseason tournament, Albertus' record evened out to 17-17 on the year.
