Softball Splits on Day Four of Spring Break Trip

Myrtle Beach, S.C. – The Albertus Magnus College softball settled for a split on day four of its 2019 spring break trip to the Palmetto State. The Falcons cruised to a 14-2 victory over Medaille before falling to Cincinnati Christian in the finale 7-1.  

THE BASICS (Game 1)
FINAL: Albertus Magnus 14 | Medaille 2 – 5 innings
RECORDS: Albertus Magnus (4-2) | Medaille (4-6)

KEY STATS / HIGHLIGHTS (Game 1)

  • Laura Anderson (East Haven, Conn.) threw her second complete game as well as earned her second win of the season. She threw five innings allowing one run on five hits and struck out four.
  • Senior Marissa Guglielmi (Branford, Conn.) went 2-for-2 at the plate with three RBI.
  • Up four runs, 5-1, entering the bottom of the third, Albertus scored an additional eight runs to take a commanding 14-0 lead.
  • Medaille was only able to score two runs in the top of the fifth and left a runner on scoring position.

RECORDS: Albertus Magnus (4-3) | Cincinnati Christian (9-8)

KEY STATS / HIGHLIGHTS (Game 2)

  • Three different players – Madison LaBossiere (Griswold, Conn.), Jess Stettinger (East Haven, Conn.) and Maxine Sanchez (Corona, N.Y.) – registered a hit for the Falcons.
  • The Falcons lone run of the game came in the bottom of the second as Stettinger scored off an error by the third baseman.

UP NEXT
Albertus concludes its spring break trip with a 1:30 p.m. non-conference showdown against Lycoming on Friday, March 15.
