Three Falcons Receive Softball All-Conference Honors

WINTHROP, Mass. – The 2021 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Softball All-Conference Teams were announced Wednesday afternoon, and three members of the Albertus Magnus College softball team, fifth-year senior Laura Anderson (East Haven, Conn.), junior Ivy Geloso (Beacon Falls, Conn.), and junior Jess Stettinger (East Haven, Conn.), were recognized with the honor.

L. Anderson made All-GNAC Second Team as a pitcher, where she went 8-3 in the circle and finished with a season ERA under two for the second time in her career, at 1.95. The dominant righty twirled seven complete games and struck out 38 batters in 71.2 innings. Anderson also nabbed her 40th career victory and her 200th career strikeout over the course of the year.

At the plate, Anderson batted a stellar .364 with a .407 on-base percentage and a .618 slugging percentage. Anderson finished the year with six doubles, a triple, and a pair of home runs, to go along with 12 RBIs and 11 runs scored. She had a six-game hitting streak to finish out the season and recorded five multi-hit games against conference opponents, including a four-hit, three-double performance against Lasell University and a three-hit performance against Anna Maria College that included a home run. 

L. Anderson paced the Falcons in doubles with six and tied for the team lead in RBIs with 12. She was tied for second on the team in home runs (2) and runs scored (11). In the circle, she led the Falcons in innings pitched (71.2), wins (8), and appearances (11), and was second on the team in strikeouts. L. Anderson finished fifth in the conference in earned-run average (1.95), third in wins (8), and tied for third in complete games (7).

Geloso receives her first All-Conference nod, earning a spot on the Second Team as a designated player after a noteworthy junior campaign. The product of Beacon Falls, Conn., appeared in all 18 games for the Falcons, recording a slash line of .322/.385/.508. She finished the year tied for second on the team with 19 hits and two home runs, while being third on the team with a .322 batting average and eight RBIs.

For her career, Geloso maintains a .329 batting average over 73 at-bats, with 24 hits, four doubles, two home runs, 13 runs, and 11 RBIs.

Stettinger was awarded a Third-Team nod in recognition for her stellar play for the Falcons. The utility player batted a lofty .333 on the season with a .403 on-base percentage and a .596 slugging percentage, which ranks her third on the team. She was tied for third in the GNAC with four home runs.

The East Haven, Conn., native also tallied 12 RBIs and had 14 runs scored for the season on 19 hits. She paced the Falcons in home runs, RBIs, and runs scored while tying for second on the team with 19 hits. 

Stettinger also made dramatic improvements in her fielding from previous years, fielding a stellar .994 as a catcher and leading the team in putouts with 146.          

Megan Anderson (Levittown, N.Y.), who is graduating as a junior, was recognized as a member of the All-GNAC Sportsmanship team.  Anderson appeared in 10 games for the Falcons and posted a slash line of .217/.217/.348. She smacked five hits, including a double and a triple, and scored three runs. The utility player finished the season on a tear, batting .357 over the last five games (5-for-14), with a double, a triple, a stolen base, and two runs scored.
