LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Albertus Magnus College softball standout Ivy Geloso (Beacon Falls, Conn.) was selected to the 2022 National Fastpitch Coaches Associations (NFCA) Division III All-Region First Team as announced by the NFCA on Monday afternoon. Geloso was one of just 13 players to make Region I's First Team, as she commanded the designated player spot.
Geloso was one of 384 student-athletes from 197 schools that comprised the DIII All-Region teams. The awards honor student-athletes from the Association's 10 regions with selection to one of three teams. NFCA member head coaches nominate and then vote for the winners in their respective regions.
The 2022 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player of the Year, Geloso, recorded a spectacular senior season that saw her lead the conference and rank within the top 15 in the NCAA rankings in batting average with a .496 mark. The three-time GNAC Player of the Week selection also worked an on-base percentage of .546, which ranked her first in the conference, and a slugging percentage of .803.
Geloso set career-highs in every major offensive category, including hits (58), RBIs (39), runs scored (37), walks (13), doubles (16), triples (4), home runs (4), and stolen bases (5). She concluded the season with 19 multi-hit games and nine games with two or more RBIs.
The last Falcon to garner All-Region recognition was program great Gillian Fortier (Naugatuck, Conn.). Fortier was named to the Division III All-Northeast Second Team by the NFCA after the 2017 season.
All honorees move forward to be considered for selection for the three NFCA Division III All-America squads, which will be announced on May 24.
