MIDDLETOWN, Conn. - The Albertus Magnus College softball team was swept by Wesleyan College, 6-4, 6-0 on Tuesday afternoon in a non-conference doubleheader.

Paige Scheid (Cedar Grove, N.J.) had two hits in game one and one in game two. Hailey Laforte (Branford, Conn.) had a hit in both games and scored a run in game one. Amanda Savinelli (New Haven, Conn.) had two RBI in game one and struck out five batters in game two.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• After the Cardinals scored a run in the bottom of the first, Albertus a single from Erin Molkenthin (East Haddam, Conn.) singled to open the inning followed by a double by Laforte to put runners on second and third. Alexis Enjem (Derby, Conn.) then walked and Julianna Petruzziello (West Haven, Conn.) reached on an error which scored Molkenthin to put Albertus on the board.
• With the bases loaded,  Savinelli then hit a two-run single to give the Falcons their first lead and Paige Scheid followed with an RBI single of her own to give Albertus a 4-1 lead heading to the bottom of the second.
• The Cardinals got one back in the bottom of the inning and then tied the game in the bottom of the fourth on an RBI single from Bella Secaira-Cotto. In the following inning, after back-to-back singles for Wesleyan, a double steal and a throwing error led to Wesleyan taking a 5-4 lead. Kordynn Killion then followed with an RBI single to make it a 6-4 game.
• The Falcons had four hits in the second inning but had just two the rest of the game.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Scheid opened up the game with a bunt single in the top of the first, but was stranded on second. In the bottom of the inning, the Cardinals plated their first run after an error followed by the second run coming on a passed ball to make it a 2-0 game. A bases-loaded walk by Kelly Baker gave Wesleyan its final run of the inning.
• Albertus managed just one more hit the rest of the game as Wesleyan scored one run in the bottom of the second and two more in the bottom of the fourth, including an RBI single by Molly Lennon.
