HOW IT HAPPENED

  • It was a pitchers' duel over the first four innings as Albertus starting pitcher Annabelle Jabs (East Hartland, Conn.) and JWU pitcher Mackenzie Clee silenced the bats.
  • Albertus, however, did have a chance in the bottom of the first inning as Scheid tripled to lead off the inning followed by a walk to Arent. Colleen Edwards (Clinton, Conn.) then hit a ball to shortstop Julia Huzi, and Scheid broke for home but was thrown out at the plate and Arent advanced to second. The Falcons would then get doubled off as a line drive from Erin Molkenthin (East Haddam, Conn.) was caught by Huzi and Arent was out at second on the force.
  • Jabs left four JWU runners on base over the first four innings, but the Wildcats got on the board as Jadyn Torres and Mackenzie Clee hit back-to-back singles and Julia Huzi drove them in with an RBI double, breaking the scoreless tie. The Wildcats then scored a run on a dropped pop fly followed by an RBI single from Jessica Forneiro, making it 4-0.
  • Albertus left runners on second and third after Hailey Laforte (Branford, Conn.) and Isabelle Smith (Meriden, Conn.) singled with just one out. The Falcons, however, were able to get two runs in the bottom of the seventh on an RBI double from Molkenthin with two outs, but the Wildcats were able to get out of the inning, earning the win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
