A NEW DAY
The Albertus Magnus College women's lacrosse team looks to bounce back as the Falcons hit the road this week for two crucial GNAC match-ups against in-state foe Saint Joseph's (Conn.) and GNAC leader Mount Ida.

HIGHLIGHT: Kaitlin D'Agostino (Hamden, Conn.) led the Falcons in ground balls with 10 as well as scored a team-high four goals. Aida Sarr (Bronx N.Y.) recorded her fourth hat-trick of the season while Nikki Kern (Wallingford, Conn.) and Courtney Cacace (Brookfield, Conn.) added two goals apiece.
GOALIE: The goaltending duo of Lexie Fenn (Oakville, Conn.) and Grace Vestro (Waterbury, Conn.) combined for 11 saves on 24 shots while Fenn earned her third loss of the season.

HIGHLIGHT: Jenny Luna (Brentwood, N.Y.) paced the AMC attack with three goals, while Aida Sarr (Bronx, N.Y.) potted two markers and added an assist for the hosts. Alex Chan (Monroe, N.Y.) and Miranda Jassil (North Branford, Conn.) each scored one tally apiece for Albertus Magnus.
GOALIE: Between the pipes, Albertus Magnus goalie Lexie Fenn (Oakville, Conn.) made 16 saves in a losing effort.

HIGHLIGHT: It was a two-headed attack for the hosts as Aida Sarr (Bronx, N.Y.) and Miranda Jassil combined for all seven of the Falcon goals. Sarr netted four tallies to close out her first year on campus with a team-high 20 markers, while Jassil found the back of the net three times in her final collegiate game.
GOALIE: In the cage, Lexie Fenn (Oakville, Conn.) made 18 saves for the hosts.

WOMEN'S LACROSSE PICKED 10TH IN GNAC PRESEASON POLL
The Albertus Magnus College women's lacrosse team was picked to finish 10th in the 2017 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Preseason Poll.

LAST YEAR RECAP
Heading into the fourth season in program history, Albertus Magnus is coming off a 1-12 campaign in which the Falcons scored a 12-10 home victory against Bay Path.

Last season, the Falcons scored seven or more goals in a game four times, including twice in conference play.

STANDOUTS

  • Aida Sarr (Bronx, N.Y.) had a breakout season as she led the team in goals (20), points (22), free-position goals (6) and shots (54). She became just the fourth player in school history to score 20 or more goals in a season and 22 points were the third-highest mark in program history.
  • Miranda Jassil (North Branford, Conn.) ended an historic career with 16 markers and a team-high three helpers. She leaves Albertus Magnus as the program's all-time leader in points (63), goals (47), assists (16), shots (105), free-position goals (10), groundballs (65) and caused turnovers (28).
  • In the cage, Fenn amassed an 18.33 goals-against average while making 137 saves and recording a .384 save percentage.

AWARD WINNERS
Following the season, Carla Tapia (Bronx, N.Y.) represented the squad on the GNAC All-Sportsmanship Team. She earned the league-wide distinction for the second time in her collegiate career after starting in all 13 games for the Falcons in 2016
