NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Albertus Magnus College pitching staff pitched two gems on Friday afternoon, shutting out Lasell, 6-0 and 3-0 at the Shea Softball Complex in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) doubleheader.
In game one, Annabelle Jabs (East Hartland, Conn.) pitched six innings, allowing just one hit and striking out eight. She pitched a perfect game through the first 4.2 innings. Skylar Arent (Ridgefield, Conn.) pitched a complete game, allowing just four hits and striking out seven.
Arent also went 2-for-2 in game one with a run and an RBI and Izzy Barreiro (Brookfield, Conn.) was 2-for-3 with a double and triple while scoring a run in game two.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Jabs dominated in the circle early and often, retiring the first 14 batters she faced. During that time, she struck out eight batters, including striking out the side in the fourth inning. The Lasers got their lone hit on a triple down the line by Shyanne Raccio.
- Offensively, the Falcons helped Jabs plenty scoring three runs in the bottom of the third inning. Amelia Boulli (Torrington, Conn.) opened the inning with a single. After an error and a walk loaded the bases, Arent walked to plate Boulli to make it a 1-0 game. Mikaela Scwhippert (Whippany, N.J.) followed with an RBI single and a fielder's choice from Karla Carangelo (Cheshire, Conn.) put the Falcons up, 3-0.
- The Falcons got one more run in the bottom of the fifth on an RBI groundout by Colleen Edwards (Clinton, Conn.).
- Albertus plated two more runs in the bottom of the sixth after an error by the Lasers.
- Ema Signore (East Haven, Conn.) pitched a scoreless seventh inning, striking out one.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Arent picked up where Jabs and Signore left off in game one, striking out two batters in each of the first two innings.
- In the bottom of the second inning, the Falcons scored three runs, which would be all they would need. Scwhippert singled to centerfield to start the inning. After advancing on a wild pitch, Carangelo drove her in with an RBI single to make it a 1-0 game. Three batters later, Barreiro tripled to right field to score Carangelo. Boulli then followed with an RBI single.
- The Lasers almost got a run across the plate in the top of the fifth, but Carangelo threw out Emma Tarleton at the plate after a single from Alyssa Fortin, preserving the shutout.

The last doubleheader shutout sweep came last season in wins over Regis.
The Falcons are now 23-15 all-time against Lasell.
Arent now has six complete game shutouts in her career. Her 2.60 ERA is the second best in the GNAC.
Jabs leads the GNAC in strikeouts per game at 6.70.
